We’re trying to control our itchy feet, so paid for a few night’s stay in Kortrijk in an effort to keep ourselves in one spot for a bit.
There’s no need to visit the tourist office though, we’ve been to the museums and galleries and we enjoy just wandering in a pattern so random that there’s no pattern at all, just to see what we can see around the next corner.
It’s a bit disconcerting though in what should be in the middle of the summer holidays, to find the streets so deserted. Even the waterfront food places were almost devoid of customers today. The main street was only missing some tumbleweed to confirm that we were in a ghost town. Perhaps they have all gone to the coast for a holiday, or perhaps they only come out at night.

We’ve had that with Kortrijk too. There’s no knowing why or when.
